Wake Up Self Dependent Women

Why Self Dependency is Blocking Your Success

Women love to take on the "Independent Woman" title because it sums up our strength, our dedication, hard work, and success. Being able to push through hard times and struggles only to end up bigger, better, and stronger is something we don't take for granted and wear like a badge because, hey, it took a lot to get to where we are. This self dependent way of life is passed down from generation to generation, culture to culture, and is encouraged throughout our lifetime, but it is in fact the very thing stopping us from reaching our fullest potential.

If you take a look at those who are living the "American dream", the first thing you will realize is they did not get there alone. It's kind of hard to ignore the large team of individuals that play a huge part in their success. Yes, it's your drive, your skill, your dream, but unless you have the connections, outside resources, marketing skills, and everything else that comes with a great team, you will only get so far.

Now, back to the whole point of this article. Self dependency...

Here are three way's self dependency blocks your success.

1. It places limits on how far you can go

2. It causes you to depend on your own capabilities

3. It causes the process to take much longer

The reason why these three things occur is simple, because it takes the focus off of God and places the focus on you. The word of God says in Ephesians 3:20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." It speaks of the limitless capabilities of God, not us. Yes, the bible does also say, "I can do anything" but let us not forget the part that say's "through Christ who gives me the strength."

God is the creator of our being. Our gifts, talents, goals, and dreams come from Him. Everything that we are and all we are destined to be resides in God. So why would self dependency be the key to success? It cannot. We have to seek God for the purpose He has placed over our lives and move according to His will, then everything we need will be given to us. God desires for us to have nice things. He desires for us to look good and live comfortably, but He also desires for us to glorify Him with all we have.

How are you planning to glorify God with the new house you've been praying for or the new car you desire? How are you planning to glorify God with the increase of finances you've been petitioning Him for day and night? Do you just desire these things for personal reasons, such as bragging rights or exposure?

Often times, having a self dependent attitude breeds pride. This is why it is so important to make sure God is in control. This way you can reach well beyond what you could have ever imagined or dreamed and God gets all the glory. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying independent women don't go far, all I'm saying is God dependent women go further.

Once we stop trying to lean on our own capabilities and finally make God the primary member of our team, then we will be able to reach places we could have never reached on our own.
